Obesity – Diet
- Resting Metabolic Rate measurement calculating the body’s basic needs in calories in the resting state (RMR) and their metabolic substratum (burning of carbohydrates, proteins and fat).
- Assessment of Advanced glycated end products (AGES).
- Examination of body composition and the alterations of this at the start of and during weight loss, sleep study when appropriate, assessment of stress and of inflammation levels in the body, estimated nutritional needs, physical examination and laboratory investigation into metabolic risk factors, control of fatty liver filtration, diet planning and complementary medication.
Nutritional support following bariatric surgery for obesity
- Resting Metabolic Rate measurement calculating the body’s basic needs in calories in the resting state (RMR).
- Special diet plans designed in accordance with the time lapse from surgery.
- Achievement of further weight loss and/or maintenance.
- During weight loss, the changes in basic metabolism and in body composition are monitored.

Diabetes mellitus types 1 and 2

(As part of my specialty at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Birmingham, UK, I undertook a training course in Paediatric Endocrinology.)
